About Coventry Jesus Centre

The Coventry Jesus Centre offers friendship and help to all regardless of their faith or lack of it. Services include social activities, ESOL classes and a drop-in for those in vulnerable accommodation or other particular need.

We seek to help people in many ways:

Brigita is from Latvia. She feels really unconfident in her English skills, she understands but struggles to speak it, so she started coming twice a week to the Coventry Jesus Centre to learn.

One day Brigita helped us with the cleaning at the Jesus Centre. We made sure she knew words like sink, toilet, sweep, mop and floor cleaner. She wanted a job as a cleaner.

Today Brigita's friend came for breakfast, he had a smile on his face. “Brigita has got a cleaning job,” he said. He told us that Brigita had had a phone call about the job. She understood the call and she took the job. “She understood the call because she's been learning at the Jesus Centre,” he said.

Note: Brigita's friend still comes to the Jesus Centre. He told me very recently that Brigita still has the job. I told him to ask her to pop in when she is not working - we really want to hear how she is doing!
